Metal Shelter Install Guide
Site Preparation & Foundation Setup
Preparing your site is the first crucial step to ensure a successful installation. installation area/floor can be packed soil, gravel, asphalt, or cement. Begin by selecting a suitable location that provides ample space for your shelter’s dimensions, including additional room for access and snow sliding off. and ventilation. Clear the area of any close (6’) vegetation, debris, and obstacles. Use a level to ensure the ground is even. For best results, consider grading the site to facilitate water drainage. preventing water from pooling around your shelter’s base. Proper site preparation is essential for the stability and longevity of your metal shelter.
Frame Assembly
Assembling the frame is an important phase of the installation process. Begin by organizing all the pre-cut and pre-drilled metal components. Separate and lie relating components in their own pile. Lay out the base frame on your prepared foundation and ensure it is square and level. Using the provided hardware, connect the base frame pieces. securely. Secure by only using the four corner anchors and secure them slightly. Proceed to assemble the vertical supports, attaching them to the base frame. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions closely. Do not fasten anything down until the Hat Channel (Purlins) are secured. Use ladders or scaffolding as needed for higher sections. Check alignment frequently to ensure a straight and stable frame.
Anchoring the Shelter
Use the provided anchors to secure your shelter to the base. Properly anchoring your shelter is essential for its stability, especially in areas prone to high winds or heavy snowfall. For concrete foundations, use expansion bolts or similar anchors to secure the shelter frame to the concrete. For gravel or soil foundations, drive the ground anchors through the predrilled holes in the framework. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for the correct type and placement of anchors. Use all the anchors supplied with your kit. In most cases, there is a predrilled hole every 5’ in the bottom framework.
Roof Installation
Installing the roof correctly is vital for protecting the contents of your shelter. Start by positioning the roof trusses or beams according to the design specifications. Secure the trusses to the legs, but only slightly. Secure tightly after Hat Channel Purlins have been installed. Ensure the trusses are evenly spaced then attach the Hat Channel/Purlins to the trusses. This is your base for the roofing panels. Lay the roof panels over the Hat Channel, starting from one end and working your way across. Overlap each panel to prevent leaks. Use the provided fasteners to secure the panels to the Hat Channel, ensuring they are tight enough to withstand wind and snow loads. Pay special attention to sealing edges and joints to prevent water ingress.
Wall Installation
If your shelter design includes walls, install them next. Begin by attaching the lower panels to the frame, ensuring they are level and aligned. Secure each panel with the provided fasteners. For partial walls, install them to the desired height. leaving the upper portion open. For full walls, continue attaching panels up to the roofline. Check for proper alignment and secure each panel firmly. Install any necessary door frames, windows, or ventilation openings according to the design. Properly installed walls enhance the structural integrity and weather resistance of your shelter.
